University of Cincinnati College of Law Clinics

The University of Cincinnati College of Law has two clinics that may be of assistance to you.

The Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic (ECDC) and the Patent and Trademark Clinic (PTC) provide free transactional legal services to start-ups, small business, non-profit organizations, and individuals. These are teaching clinics for UC Law students, supervised by experienced attorneys. Each clinic has an application form to request legal assistance.

ECDC services include corporate formation, services agreements, operating agreements, website agreements, governance documents, research, and similar business-related legal needs.

PTC services include patent search and registration, trademark search and registration, copyrights, and similar needs related to intellectual property.

Please note:

  • Both clinics operate from August to May, with rolling admissions after the initial client slate. Companies and entrepreneurs can apply throughout the year using the above links.
  • Demand is very high for limited spots in ECDC, and it is even more difficult to get into PTC.
