Nonprofit Highlight: Scrap2Home

Scrap2Home became a PBPO client in 2022, shortly after its founding. PBPO is proud to have partnered with the organization since its early stages of operations!

Guided by its mission to “reduce the amount of wood sent to the landfill and provide free furniture to people who cannot afford to buy it,” the organization has diverted 35,000+ pounds of wood from the landfill and built 1,400+ items that have been donated to people in need. This is all possible thanks to the involvement of more than 600 volunteers who have donated more than 6,000 hours of service.

Scrap2Home collects wood that is headed for the landfill and uses that wood to build furniture that is then donated to people who cannot afford to buy it. The wood comes from construction sites, businesses, private homeowners, and other organizations. Volunteers are the workforce who help collect the wood, process the wood so it is ready for use, and build the furniture. Scrap2Home also leads corporate team building workshops that combine table-building with various activities designed to develop leadership, communication, camaraderie, trust, etc.

When asked about the positive impact PBPO has made on the organization, Nick said, “PBPO has been an incredible resource for Scrap2Home. Quite honestly, I don’t know what we would have done without them. From the very start, PBPO has provided expert advice in a timely fashion… I feel that working with PBPO has given me peace of mind on a number of issues.”

We are grateful for organizations like Scrap2Home that use innovative ideas to give back to our community members in need!
